Princess Maxima Attends Youth Weight Program
On Tuesday February 1, Princess Maxima was in the province of Drenthe to be present at the launch of the Youth Programme on Healthy Weight (Jogging). Jogging is a nationwide program aimed at young people (0-19 years), their parents and their environment to reduce overweight and obesity.
Drenthe is the first province to start Jogging. This year, other cities including Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht, will begin the program.
All local parties from education, healthcare, business, sports, housing, welfare and media are working together to promote healthy eating and exercise. This results in a program with a variety of actions, such as increased attention to nutrition and exercise in schools, better sports and play facilities and information to parents.
Jogging is a part of the Covenant Health Weight. This agreement is a partnership between 27 parties from (state and local) governments, businesses and civil society. The agreement runs from 2010 to 2015.
