Previous years the magazine decided that Her Majesty could not participate in the contest as her role is hereditary. This year however they made an exception for the 72 y/o head of state. According to the jury she gives her role contence, she is forceful, has an enormous knowledge files and she has clearly an opinion of her own. This year she has an extra important role in the country due to the difficult process of forming a government.

Number two on the list is the chairwoman of the largest labor union, Agnes Jongerius. Mrs. Jongerius yesterday stated in news programme ‘Pauw & Witteman’ that the word ‘powerful’ is rather relative and that the Queen has to use her influece in a very discreet way. But she hopes that Queen Beatrix will do everything she can to warn the new government against the planned financial cuts of 18 billion Euros.
