Concert Celebrating Queen Ingrid’s 100th Birthday
A memorial concert was held on August 30th at the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, to mark the 100th anniversary of the late Queen Ingrid’s birth.
The ‘three Danish sisters’ Queen Margrethe, Princess Benedikte and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece attended, as well as Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim, Princess Marie and Benedikte’s husband, Prince Richard zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. They were treated to music performed by the Tivoli Symphony Orchestra, and famous German tenor Jonas Kaufmann.
The only surviving sibling of Queen Ingrid, who was born a Princess of Sweden as the only daughter of King Gustaf VI Adolf and his first wife British-born Princess Margaret of Connaught, Count Carl Johan Bernadotte also was present for the memorial concert, accompanied by his wife Gunnilla.
According to BT, once the concert was over the royal party then dined at The Paul, one of Tivoli’s restaurants.
