Queen Rania attends “Women in the World” Summit
This week HM Queen Rania of Jordan paid a brief visit to the US, where she attended the “Women in the World” summit. At the Hudson Theatre in New York City, Queen Rania told the women attending the summit about girls’ education. She focused on the importance of educating of 600 million girls around the world “who are still left on the sidelines, lost in a world where nonsense prevails.”
She also spoke about the impact of basic and high school education in improving the lives of girls and their families. The three-day event was attended by some of the world’s most powerful women, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, actress Meryl Streep, Diane Sawyer and Katie Couric. It was co-hosted by The Daily Beast, Vital Voices Global Partnership, the U.N. Foundation and designed Diane von Furstenberg.
