Princess Ferial bint Farouk of Egypt was buried on Tuesday in the Al-Rifaai Mosque in Cairo, where she was laid to rest next to her father and her sisters, Princesses Fadia and Fawzia. The Princess died on Sunday after a long bout with stomach cancer in Switzerland.

The funeral took place at night, and was attended by members of the royal family of Egypt and their friends. Prince Ahmed Fouad, Ferial’s only surviving sibling, led his sister funeral procession accompanied with Ferial’s daugher, Princess Yasmine, from her marriage to Jean-Pierre Perreten.

The 2009 is not a good year for Egypt’s Royal Family. The late Princess Ferial’s cousin, Nadia Shereen, daughter of former Empress Fawzia Fouad and her husband Ismail Shereen, had passed away from couple months ago. Also Dr. Ismail Fahmi, the Ahmed Fuad’s stepfather, passed away during this year.
