On 13 November 2007, Infanta Elena and Jaime announced the “end of their conjugal living.”

Jaime will be no longer a member of the Spanish Royal Family, and he will lose the title of Duke of Lugo, which he has been using as the consort of Infanta Elena.

Infanta Elena and Jaime de Marichalar married on 18 March 1995. On that occasion, His Majesty the King granted her the title of Duchess of Lugo. They have two children, Felipe Juan Froilan de Todos los Santos, who was born on 17 July 1998, and Victoria Federica, born on 9 September 2000.

The Royal House has not commented about Elena and Jaime’s divorce, as the Court considers it a private issue that has nothing to do with the Institution.
