Interview with Prince Joachim
Denmark’s Prince Joachim has given an interview to Astma-Allergie, in which he discusses his own allergies and why a focus on allergies is important. He is patron of the Asthma-Allergy Foundation.
The Prince is allergic to grass, birch and cats – and should, in theory, be allergic to horses and dogs, but he’s never had any problems.
He told how he was very aware, and perhaps slightly worried, about the pollen situation in the run-up to his wedding to Marie Cavallier, as spring was coming a little early and “standing with tears in your eyes is one thing, it always looks good at a wedding. But if I stand there with swollen eyes just how silly would it look?” As a consequence, the Prince had to spend the last few days before his wedding indoors to avoid the pollen and birch.
Prince Joachim says that he believes “With nearly one million Danes affected by asthma and allergies, it is important to have an…Asthma-Allergy Association. The more we know about this illness, the easier it is to take precautions. It is about making information available to people, like I’m doing today with Pollental. Â The Asthma-Allergy Association is valuable by being a knowledge base and a body that can support, inform, communicate, debate and, not least, establish contact between people. And in this regard the Asthma-Allergy Association website will also be good. Precisely because it’s so easy for people to get information and then act on it.”
